Designers are seeing red with voluminous silhouettes. From chiffon to fur to feathers and any material imaginable, with so much red going on, I would think this is an ode to the now-retired Valentino whose signature color is passionate red.
One thing great about Fall Winter is that it allows you to don awesome coats that give you a whole new different silhouette and show off your favourite designers’ creativity. Theatrical duo Viktor & Rolf makes their statements of the industry in 3-D words. Now if you’re going to wear that coat, be sure not to walk through any narrow doorways because you’re bound to hold up the line.
Of course when we talk about structural, we must never forget Jil Sander. A complete 180 from Spring Summer ’08, everything is all hard and grey. And these coats are my absolute favourites because they are so sleek and seem almost perfect. Raf Simons never lets me down with his simplistic minimalist ideas.
A goth girl falling in love is one of the stories weaved for this season. Black, black and black, it’s met with the romanticism of lace. Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy is oh-so romantic with his ruffled shirts and black leather.
Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent completed the look with Dr Martens-esque boots with to-die-for spiked heels ( well, either you die standing in them for hours or someone dies when you accidentally step on them because these heels are insanely sleek and sharp).
Rodarte is a favourite with their knitted tops and leggings that very much resembles spider webs. Of course the shoes are killer heels made by Christian Louboutin and I do mean KILLER with metal studs sticking out like claws. With these shoes, you’re sure to be murder on the dancefloor.
